A Son's Last Letter To His Dad

Dear Dad,

I miss you!

I remember the times that you took me fishing,

down by the river in the early days of Spring.

Side by side we stood in solitude,

enjoying each other's company without saying a thing.

I can almost feel its balmy air,

and hear the flocks of geese as they pass by.

We'd make small talk as we fished for hours

just the two of us, you and I.

I know there were times when you wanted to talk,

talk of spiritual things.

You'd breathe out a sigh as you swallowed your words,

when I ridiculed you for your beliefs.

Sometimes I'd glance over at you

and you would give me that smile,

the smile that tried to conceal your thoughts.

I never would have imagined that my life

would end at such an early age.

One sudden swerve on the icy pavement sent me into eternity.

Have you ever thought you'd have to bury your son?

Oh dad, if only I had listened!

I see things with a clarity now that I'm in Hell.

I can never question God's justice

when He has revealed Himself to me,

offering me the opportunities to accept His gift of Salvation,

but I was too busy to respond.

Oh, what would I give to hear your voice,

to go fishing with you in the spring.

To feel the comfort of your presence,

to hear you talk of Eternal things.

Sadly, dad, your memory of me will be wiped away,

evaporating like a vapor in the morning sun.

For there are no tears, no sorrows in Heaven.

His hand shall tenderly wipe away your tears.

One day, you will see all things from God's perspectiive,

when you are conformed into the image of His Son.

You will not be saddened by the lack of my presence

but rather you will embrace God's justice,

for the many opportunities I had to repent.

No longer will I bear His image,

for the beauty of the Lord will be stripped away.

All the qualities you once loved about me will be gone forever,

when God withdraws Himself from me.

No longer would you wonder how God could send good people to Hell,

but rather you will marvel at His grace

in what He did by sending bad people to Heaven,

when He suffered and died, and arose from the grave.

So that those who believe on Him might be saved.

Dear Soul,

We are all sinners deserving of Hell.

Yet, tonight you can make peace with God.

You can receive the gift of Eternal Life

that He is graciously offering to you,

by accepting the Lord Jesus as your personal Savior.

If you would like to have Eternal Life,

first you must believe in the Lord.

Ask to have your sins forgiven,

and place your trust in Him.

There's only one way to Heaven and that's through the Lord Jesus.

That's God's wonderful plan of Salvation!

You can begin a personal relationship with Him

by praying a prayer such as the following:

"O God, I am a sinner.

I am sorry for my sins.

I want to turn, and repent from my sins.

I call out to the LORD & receive Jesus Christ as my Savior,

I confess Him as my Lord.

From now on I want to follow Him.

In Jesus' name. Amen."

If you have received the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior

after reading this invitation, please let us know.

We would love to hear from you. Your first name is sufficient.

We'll leave the light on for you...
